Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS) is one of SMUD's partners for EnergyHELP, which is funded through the voluntary contributions of SMUD customers. SFBFS processes applications and distributes those funds to qualified, low-income SMUD customers who are in jeopardy of having their power disconnected for non-payment.

SMUD customers should not contact SFBFS directly to receive EnergyHELP assistance. SMUD contacts potential recipients by phone to verify eligibility, then SFBFS contacts pre-qualified customers to set appointments to complete the assistance process.
