Come behind the scenes and meet the people who make the organization run! Meet Edward Carrillo, SFBFS’ Agency Relations Coordinator.
What’s your favorite thing about working at SFBFS?
One of my favorite things about working at SFBFS has been the opportunity to work and collaborate with individuals that care so much about our community. Working with different staff members, clients, donors, volunteers, and partner agencies has given me the hope and motivation to change systemic challenges that affect our clients on a daily basis.
What does a typical workday at SFBFS look like for you?
A typical workday of mine at SFBFS consists of different tasks, meetings, phone calls, emails and reports. Each work day of mine is always very different and our political climate directly affects the work that I do on a daily basis, which can keep me on my toes every day. However, at the end of the day, I am an advocate for our partner agencies, our clients, our organization, and our community. As an Agency Relations Coordinator I have the pleasure of working with the 220 partner agencies within our network. Our partner agencies consist of different food ministries, university food pantries, and other non-profit organizations here in our county. Each of our partner agencies are unique in their own way in how they contribute to ending food insecurity here in Sacramento County. Day in and day out, I see all the hands and hearts that go into feeding our community which make my workdays feel like big wins every single day.
What inspires you in supporting the SFBFS mission and culture?
Inspiration comes to me in all shapes and forms when it comes to supporting the SFBFS mission and culture. However, when I really think about what inspires me in supporting the SFBFS mission and culture, the biggest thing that comes to mind is my Mom. My Mom has always been such a large role model for me. Her endless love, selflessness and compassion is what inspires me to be a better person for SFBFS and my community.
What is your favorite pastime?
On my free time I really enjoy traveling, listening to music, trying new restaurants, and hanging out with friends. You can also catch me at a local farmers market on the weekend or at a Coldplay concert when they’re in the area.
What is your favorite fruit or veggie and why?
I’m a huge Avocado fan! It's probably the millennial in me, but I think that they make everything taste 10x better.
