Come behind the scenes and meet the people who make the organization run! This month’s featured staff member is Tasha Bryant, Clothing & Donations Receiving Manager.
What’s your favorite thing about working at SFBFS?
The people! I love the folks who we serve, our amazing volunteers, donors and the SFBFS team.
What does a typical workday at SFBFS look like for you?
My day is non-stop and every day is different. I have tried to stop using the word “busy” because it could be interpreted in a negative way. I enjoy the non-stop pace because that means we are meeting the needs of many people.
What inspires you in supporting the SFBFS mission and culture?
Both my parents’ life work was in social services and as long as I can remember they instilled the importance of giving back and helping people who are less fortunate. My grandmother used to tell me to wake up every morning to be a blessing to someone.
By working at SFBFS, that opportunity presents itself to me in a very profound way. It can come by simply offering a smile, a word of encouragement or by providing clothing and any other necessity to make life easier. I am inspired by the individuals and families we work with. Despite the trauma some of them have faced I find they possess gratitude, courage, determination and a special resiliency – a true testament of the power of the human spirit.
What is your favorite pastime?
I enjoy spending time with my family. Grandkids are the best!
What is your favorite fruit or veggie and why?
Bananas. I’m known for my ugly bananas because I carry them with me wherever I go and they tend to get a little beat up. Bananas are my go to fruit and I always have a supply on hand.
