As the Communications Officer for Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS), a lot of my job is spent behind a computer. But, every once in a while, I get the awesome opportunity to speak out in the public at events and attend private fundraisers. This week, I had a blast at a very creative fundraiser hosted by Jennifer Nadzam Granger, wife of Sacramento Kings President, Chris Granger.

The private event, held at their beautiful home, hosted local women ready to give back! Several hundred pieces of clothing were on display in the living room of their home and the ladies were encouraged to shop ‘til they dropped! Beverages and delicious hors d’oeuvres were also provided by TEN22 catering.

Once the ladies collected their favorite items, they made their way to the Check Out station where four, local charities were waiting. At $25 per item, each woman chose which charity they would like their purchase to support. In addition to SFBFS, Food Literacy Center, Sacramento Children’s Home and Friends of Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission were in attendance.

I loved the idea of giving back this way! It was such a fun gathering of incredible, local women with one common goal; giving back to those less fortunate. By the end of the night, SFBFS raised $675 in clothing purchases and received an additional generous donation of approximately 100 clothing items! These items will specifically be used in SFBFS’ Job Smart program which provides career appropriate attire for those interviewing for employment or seeking to enhance their professional attire.

What a great way to start 2016! Special thank you to Jenifer Nadzam Granger for putting on such a wonderful event!
