Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS) is a proud partner of United Way’s Sacramento chapter. As I continue to learn about all the services SFBFS provides and is associated with, I’m amazed at the good that’s being done in our community.
As the saying goes, United Way season is here! SFBFS has been asked to speak as a featured, local, nonprofit at several Our Promise trainings. The program, organized by United Way, encourages local state employees to give back to a local, nonprofit of their choice through their monthly check.
The opportunity for SFBFS to be able to speak at these trainings is invaluable. I can’t tell you how many people I see give a raised eyebrow or whisper a “wow” under their breath as I explain all it is that SFBFS is accomplishing throughout the Sacramento community. If SFBFS isn’t a nonprofit that they’ve thought of or recognized before as a pillar of our community, my hope is that I have shared something new and exciting that may have resonated with them to change their perspective.
It’s definitely a proud feeling to know I can go out in the community on a weekly basis and do my small part to spread the word and encourage people to get involved; whether that’s by volunteering, donating, hosting a donation drive or running in the upcoming Run to Feed the Hungry event! I’m looking forward to more speaking engagements where I can educate the community about the wonderful services being offered at SFBFS.
