Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS) is one of SMUD's partners in the EnergyHELP program, which is funded through the voluntary contributions of SMUD customers. SFBFS processes applications and distributes those funds to qualified, low-income SMUD customers who are in jeopardy of having their power disconnected for non-payment.

SMUD customers should not contact SFBFS directly to receive EnergyHELP assistance. SMUD contacts potential recipients by phone to verify eligibility, then SFBFS contacts pre-qualified customers to set appointments to complete the assistance process.
